I completely agree with Gary. There is no good reason for Rep Lewis and Commissioner Burgin to propose reduction in impact fees for Mr. Levinson or any other builder. Can they say without hesitation that the cost of the impact fees is not past along to the home buyers? More recreation facilities and parks was one of the points for my platform when I ran for commissioner. What do we have, especially in the Anderson Creek area, for recreations facilities? Is Mr. Levinson willing to open up Anderson Creek Club for the area public to enjoy the facilities? The new Anderson Creek Park on Nursery Rd is fabulous and it is fabulous because Harnett County used impact fees to build it. Hats off to Carl Davis and the Recreation Dept for a job well done; but we still need more--more facilities within walking distance for people who can't drive that far.
If builders are allowed to continue to build without sharing some of the responsibility of community services than maybe we should look at allowing someone different to build who think more of the people of Harnett County and less about their pocketbooks.
