Politicians & Leaders feathers ruffled about the Harnett Dispatch giving transparency to the public
In the last two years I have enjoyed sharing the news with the people of this great county. What started as a hobby has formed into a viable news source for many. With well over 12,000, visitors per day from people here in Harnett County, and countless others from all parts of the state and country. The Harnett Dispatch has become a news source for the people of Harnett County. Our stories have been featured in other state and national news publications.
In the last year the Dispatch has reported stories that some news outlets would not dare to release in fear of retaliation from elected officials and powerful people with money. That’s is what makes us different from you average run of the mill news source we dig and investigate local government in order for you the public to know what is going on with your tax dollar. We call it like it is; if there is someone not doing something that seems kosher we call them out on it and expose what they have done. By doing this we have made many enemies along the way but on the same hand we have built relationships that will last a lifetime. Politicians and government always gives a great lip service about there needs to be more transparency in government. They should be happy that we provide this service for them we are only making their campaign slogans a reality. We reach out to many of these politicians and leaders and try to get a response from them before we print the stories but in most cases people who get caught with the hands in the cookie jar run for cover.
So here it is my dear friends of Harnett, we here at the Harnett Dispatch will continue to bring you those facts about your tax dollar and local elected officials. We will not be scared off or bullied down to close our mouths. The freedom of speech is ours and the pen of the media is powerful, we will use our resources to allow the public to know what the transparent government is doing,
