Western Harnett Lions Vincent Schimmoller, past district governor was elected to complete the District Governor Elect term for District 31 N, Governor Elect Al Greene had to step down due to health issues. The newly formed district will join 31-H, 31-F & 31-J and will have approximately 1500 members.
Vehicle Overturns in Downtown Lillington Around 9;30AM this morning their was a loud crash on E. Front St in Lillington, a two car crash caused an SUV to overturn on it’s side. New County Commissioners Assume office This morning the Harnett County Board of Commissioner’s held the swearing in ceremony for the two newly elected commissioners. Commissioner Abe Elmore and Commissioner Barbara McKoy took their oath to office. After the Ceremony the new leadership voted on their new board leadership and Jim Burgin was elected Chairman and Gordon Springle was elected Vice-Chairman.

Michaela Williams, a sixth grade student at Western Harnett Middle School, has taken the first step to becoming an internationally recognized artist by winning a local competition sponsored by the Western Harnett Lions Club. Michaela’s poster was among more than 375,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 27th annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest.
