Phillip “Phil” Wayne White
Phillip “Phil” Wayne White, 65 of 103 East C Street, Erwin, passed away Sunday, November 17th at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He was retired from Century Link phone service after 42 years of service and also retired from Erwin Fire & Rescue after 26 years.
He is the son of the late Henry Clayton & Annie Ruth Sorrell White.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 20th at 2:00PM at Erwin Church of God with Revs. Tim Cowan & Jerome Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Erwin Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife LaRue White of the home, son Brandon White & wife Jami of Willow Spring, daughter Ashley W. Snipes & husband John of Atlantic Beach, sister Susan Butler of Raleigh, Aunt & Uncle Johnny & Lucille Johnson of Fayetteville, four grandchildren: Caiden & Zander White, Jack & Phillip Snipes
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 19th from 6:00-9:00PM at Price Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Angier-John Royster Dupree, 78, died on November 16th in his lake home in Summerton, SC. He was born on February 6, 1935 in Angier, NC, and was the son of Ruby Franks Dupree and John Stuart Dupree. John was a descendent of French Huguenots (Calvinist Protestants), who fled France and immigrated to America in 1680 because of severe Catholic persecution of Huguenots in France.
John graduated from Angier High School in 1953 and served in high school as a cheerleader and president of his junior and senior classes. John, or Royster as he was known to his family and friends, attended East Carolina University from 1953-55 and graduated from George Washington University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. John served in the Army for 2 years from 1955-57 and was stationed in Paris, France. John later worked 33 years with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) from 1957-90, in Washington, DC and retired to Summerton, South Carolina on Lake Marion in 1990. While with the FAA, John served abroad as the comptroller for all airports in Zaire, Africa, from 1972-75, and collected and brought home approximately a 100 piece African Art Collection, which will be been donated to the Avery Research Center for African American Studies, at The College of Charleston. John traveled extensively in Europe and Africa and enjoyed forty two ocean cruises. John was an avid gardener, sports fan, music lover and Shag dancer, and was very active in his local Orangeburg-Santee Shag Club.
John was preceded in death by his sister Betty Sue Woodall and two brothers, Charles and Randy Dupree. John is survived by his brother Lynwood Dupree and wife, Rachel, and brother-in-law, Davis Bryant Woodall. His nieces and nephews were Laura Honeycutt, Dave Woodall, Kay Capps, Becky Bannister, and Bobby Sheetz. He also has several great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled at the Angier United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 20th beginning with family visitation at 10:00 am, with service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier.
The family will be gathering and receiving friends at other times at the home of Michael and Laura Honeycutt at 171 High Meadow Drive in Angier.
