Coats, N.C. — A man is in custody after an apparent domestic dispute inside a home in Coats. After the smoke cleared, a home had been gutted by fire and two people were sent to the hospital.

The first call from 19 Keyman Drive, just after 7 p.m., was a report of a woman stabbed in the neck. Moments later, fire crews were called to the home to find it engulfed in flames.

18-year-old Christopher Valdez faces multiple charges, including assault on a female, authorities said.

They did not identify Valdez alleged victims, but described them as his girlfriend, a family member and a neighbor.

Authorities said two children were inside of the home at the time of the incident.  Both children were unharmed and made it out OK.

Valdez was on probation on a weapons charge.
