Rabin will Seek Re-Election
January 9, 2014
Spring Lake, NC – Senator Ronald Rabin, (R-Harnett) has made it official today that he will seek re-election in North Carolina’s 12th Senate District.
“After much thought and prayer as a family, we have decided that I will run for re-election to the North Carolina Senate,” Rabin said. “I am thankful for the opportunity the constituents of the 12th District bestowed upon me. It has been my honor to represent Harnett, Lee, and Johnston Counties during this historic time for North Carolina. I believe our accomplishments will have a lasting and positive effect on our quality of life, which is why I hope to continue my efforts in the General Assembly.”
The NCGA focused on jobs and the economy this past session by creating a business friendly environment that helped businesses grow and create more jobs. The Tax Reform Act modernized North Carolina’s 1930s-based system and moved the state from 44th to 7th in the nation in terms of tax friendliness for business. In addition the tax reform puts over $1-billion in taxpayers hands, this provides a great incentive for businesses to move here and people to remain in NC. Along with tax reform, the regulation reduction initiatives place NC number four in a recent Forbes Magazine analysis of business friendly states.
In addition to business related legislation, the NCGA was able to resolve other issues such as bringing integrity back to our voting system, protecting our 2nd amendment rights and bipartisan legislation to spur our economy by tapping into NC’s abundant energy resources. The combination of these reforms will help put NC back on the path to prosperity.
Over the course of 6 months, Rabin hosted 15 town hall meetings to promote an understanding of the issues and answer the many questions regarding the reforms being discussed during session.
“I have always believed that the only way to do my job as your Senator is for me to be in constant communication with the people that elected me,” said Rabin. Adding, “I plan to host just as many town hall meetings across our district in 2014.”
The May 14th Short Session will begin to tackle difficult issues including enriching our workforce, teacher pay, small business, skyrocketing Medicaid costs, continued work on energy possibilities and more.
“I have a proven record of fighting for the 12th District and our State,” said Rabin, “and I humbly ask that you allow me to continue to work hard for you in the North Carolina General Assembly.”
In the Interim Senator Rabin serves both as a member and advisory member on the Joint Legislative Emergency Management Oversight Committee, Environmental Review Commission, Joint Legislative Commission on Energy Policy, Joint Legislative Workforce Development System Reform Oversight Committee, and as Co-Chair on the Civilian Credit for Military Training and State Adjutant General Selection Criteria Committee.
