Harnett County Checkbook Online
One of the first actions that the new County Board of Commissioners implemented was to make the County finances more transparent. In a motion led by Chairman Burgin the County checkbook is now online and can be found at http://treefree.harnett.org/Weblink8/\ or www.harnett.org It shows all transaction and checks released by the county to vendors. In one section the general public can view contracts that are open with the county.
This move to place the information online is part of the transparent Government that many people wanted. The new board feels that this is the best way to accomplish this; the info is out there for anyone to see. The list has several names of vendors and people receiving money from the county. With this being implemented the public has the privilege of contacting their Commissioner and asking about different expenses. To contact your commissioner about this here is a list of public listed numbers from harnett.org.

How does having the check book online and open to the public prove anything? We are living in a democracy and therefore we have laws and rules and our public servants serve our county with honesty and hard work. How could anyone write a check and steal anything from Harnett County I do not know, nothing is spend that is not in the budget approved by Mr. Burgin and company. They must not trust themselves as I do not know of anyone writing checks for personal gain in Harnett County. To me this is just ignorance serving ignorant. Also one that does not trust himself may not trust others. In the end no matter what someone might steal in Harnett County check book it will not ever total the money that Mr. Burgin, Mr. House and others have cost this county in the way of delays, investigation and other legal cost. These people are sounding like some country maybe Russia and it is bat crap crazy in my book.
