Bogus Robo Call Released today misleads citizens
A robo call was sent out today in Harnett County about a property tax increase of over 7 cents by the Harnett County Commissioners. Sources are reporting that this robo call was done as a political ploy to deflect the recent House Bill 1108 that the County Commissioners spoke out against that would give more local power to the state legislators.
There is a proposed tax increase in this year’s budget that is set at 5.5 cent, for example if you own a home that is valued at $150.000 you would see your tax bill go up by $6.88 per month. The increase helps with the building of new schools, public safety and other county services.

I received this call and it made me furious. My main issue was we rallied enough to get the sales tax increased so that the property taxes would not go up. Now we are seeing a proposed property tax increase. ???
I did “speed text” Joe Miller, HCBOC Chairman and he called me right away to clarify and explain the recorded call I received. I am still concerned over the proposed increase of 5.5 cents. I do see where the call was to deflect attention from HB 1108! HB 1108 will cripple our local government, the people we trusted enough to vote for and represent us.
