Congratulations to the following Harnett County Schools teachers for being selected to participate in the Governor’s Teacher Network:
Jennifer Ennis – 5th Grade Teacher at South Harnett Elementary
Gregory Griffin – 8th Grade Language Arts Teacher at HCMS
Katherine Hancock – 6th Grade AIG Teacher at Highland Middle
Charles Siler – Art Teacher at Angier Elementary

The Governor’s Teacher Network (GTN) recognizes and rewards teachers who can help advance Race to the Top (RttT)-funded educational remodeling efforts across the state. Approximately 450 outstanding teachers from across North Carolina were selected to serve for one year as content experts and professional development creators/facilitators. GTN teachers remain in their current roles but will also be trained in depth on the State’s RttT-funded work in one of two Homebase related “pathways”.. GTN teachers will then develop projects designed to spread understanding and use of new resources and practices in their schools and districts. GTN teachers were selected through a rigorous application process. They will receive specialized federally funded training related to their projects and support from NCDPI staff over the course of the year.
