Rumors Flair about the Future of County Manager Tommy Burns
In the last few months, rumors have been going around that County manager Tommy Burns may be out of a job in December when the new board takes control. The elections are still months away and the outcome is still up in the air. Many people that the Dispatch has talked to have said that County Commissioner Jim Burgin is laying the groundwork to oust Tommy Burns from his job if he takes control of the board in December.
Last night the Dispatch learned that there was a heated closed session meeting between the commissioners and that there was a heated discussion between one commissioner and another about Mr. Burns and other matters that were not disclosed.
Commissioner Gary House posted on facebook last night that “I came face to face with a narcissist tonight. How appalling. May God have mercy on his soul….
1. A person who is overly self-involved, and often vain and selfish.
2.Psychoanalysis . A person who suffers from narcissism, deriving erotic gratification from admiration of his or her own physical or mental attributes.
This morning a page supporting Tommy Burns started circulating among facebook subscribers, the page is a move to support Tommy Burns.
Whenever a new Board is seated, some changes are inevitable. One thing that does not need to change in Harnett County is the leadership of County Manager Tommy Burns. Mr. Burns performance has been exemplary. Rumors have been circulating for about 7 months that he may not be here once the new board is seated. If these rumors turn out to be true, shame on the people of Harnett County for letting this happen. There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Burns has the best interests of Harnett County, its residents and employees in mind in every decision and recommendation that he makes. We need to KEEP TOMMY BURNS.—– County Vice Chairman Gary A. House
