Harnett Central High held 9th Grade Academy Camp

Harnett Central High held 9th Grade Academy Camp on August 13th from 8:30am-12:30pm. The program, coordinated by Assistant Principal, Terrie Hampton, gave freshman students the opportunity to tour the school, experience the school day with bells, meet with a guidance counselor, meet the school resource officer and participate in a pep rally (by the junior varsity and varsity cheer squads). Students from the HCHS Gold Rush and cross country teams also gave presentations.
Over 228 new students attended the camp and were led through the day by teams of upper classman student leaders. The focus was orienting freshman to the 4 L’s (lockers, looks, locations, and lunch). The day concluded with a pizza lunch, served by the HCHS Academic Booster Club (a new parent volunteer team).
