Veterans Health Fair Coming to Spring Lake Oct. 25
“Cumberland and surrounding counties’ Veterans can enroll in the VA health care system”
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Fayetteville area Veterans can enroll in the VA health care system and receive health information about various services available to them from representatives of the Fayetteville VA Medical Center (VAMC) Rural Health Outreach team on Oct. 25. In addition, health information and counseling plus services such as blood glucose, blood pressure and oximetry testing will be available to the public.
The medical center’s rural health team is participating in a health information fair hosted by VFW Post 9103. This event will take place at 14258 North Hwy 201 South in Spring Lake Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other highlights include an on-site VBA (Veterans Benefits Administration) representative to answer questions about claims procedures as well as give-a-ways and refreshments while supplies last.
The rural health team can provide information on diabetes management, controlling hypertension and cholesterol levels, women’s health care, mental health services and other specialized programs available to Veterans. Additionally, an eligibility and enrollment specialist will be on-hand to accept Veterans’ enrollments on site.
Anyone who served in the U.S. military is invited to attend the event. Veterans are highly encouraged to bring copies of their DD Form 214 (discharge paperwork) and last year’s financial information to expedite enrollment in the system.
