Rabin and Lewis Sponsor Charter School Bill
Today a charter school bill passed that will allow charter schools to expand from grades K-5 to middle school grades. Under this bill the charter school must have been approved to operate K-5 during 2014-2015 school year, the other stipulations of this bill include that the school must be adjunct to a major military base and meet certain population requirements.
As many may know, Anderson Creek Charter School was open during the 2014-2015 and is located near a major military base. This bill was created for charter schools across the state but anyone with common sense can tell that this bill was drafted for the charter school located here in Harnett County.
According to insiders, Senator Rabin said that the proposed bill did not have anything to do with Anderson Creek charter school which Senator Rabin is a resident of. Many find this hard to believe when the bill looks like it was drafted for the school in question. Some county leaders are asking why these two lawmakers would go all out to get a bill passed that would only have a huge benefit on so few schools in North Carolina.
It has been said, that the leadership of Anderson Creek Charter School were big contributors to the Rabin and Lewis political campaigns. The Harnett Dispatch researched this and indeed concluded that the direct leadership gave thousands of dollars to both Senator Rabin and Lewis’s campaign during the last two elections.
Here’s a wise saying, that I think sums this bill up perfectly “If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.”
