Folks Worried about Garbage being dumped illegally on the roadside and in abandoned locations in Harnett County, Here are a few suggestions that seem to be far better than ones discussed of late with the Harnett County Commissioners.

First of all why has no one requested that he Commissioners look into locating Convenience Centers in Harnett County that would be like Wake County residents use?  Wake County residents can get rid of garbage and materials free of charge at several Convenience Centers in Wake County that are operated by The Wake County Solid Waste facilities.  The Wake County Convenience Centers also have recycling bins and Household Hazardous Waste collections as well.

This would reduce the amount of garbage that is disposed of on the roadside and in other areas throughout the county.  Also having the Sheriff’s Department spend time policing the illegally dumped garbage is too expensive and does not stop folks from repeated acts of dumping garbage illegally.  We would not need too many but Harnett County is big and given there are only two facilities available it lends to folks littering and dumping garbage and debris on the roadside or in abandoned places.

This is the 21st Century and Harnett County is growing and it is time for our leaders to be progressive and step up to the challenge of many issues and number one, our county roadways need to be clean as possible.  Someone needs to make a request at the next Commissioners Meeting and the cost the Sheriff is spending could be reduced and applied to the new Convenience Centers throughout our county.

next commissioners meeting is February 18 2013 at 7 pm. Citizens need rally behind this idea and do not listen to House and their crap about no money, they can find it and not fund stuff at Good Hope which they will slip into the budget. More on that soon.
