Operation Turkey Drop
October 30, 2013
The Harnett County Partnership for Children is hosting a food drive to collect non-perishable food items for the Harnett Food Pantry in order support the Anderson Creek Club Women’s Club project to provide turkey dinners for local families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. HCPC will accept food donations through October and November as a part of Operation Turkey Drop. The Harnett Food Pantry provides a three-day supply of food to more than 300 Harnett County families a month who are hungry and in need of a meal. The Pantry provides a Thanksgiving dinner for many of those families during the holiday season and this year they are still in need of over 150 dinners.
The Harnett County Partnership for Children has pledged to feed 20 families a turkey dinner and with the support of community members we hope to exceed that pledge.
HCPC is looking for the following donations:
Turkeys (or $12 donation made payable to Harnett Food Pantry)
Dressing/Stuffing
Canned Green Beans
Canned Corn
Canned Cranberry Sauce
Boxed Cake Mix
Ready Made Cake Frosting
Canned Yams
Ready-Made Gravy
Cornbread
All donated items should be brought to the HCPC office located at 1901-G North Main Street in Lillington on or before Friday November 22, 2013 between the hours of 8:30 – 4:30 Monday through Friday so they can be taken to the food pantry in time to be packaged for Thanksgiving. The Harnett Food Pantry will take turkey donations up until the day before Thanksgiving. To request a pickup of your donations, or to request a box be dropped off at your office, please contact Aubrey Stevens at (910) 893-2344.
Thank You,
Aubrey M. Stevens
