This week (October 20-24) is National School Bus Safety Week. This week is set aside for parents, students, teachers, motorists, school bus operators, school administrators, and other interested parties to join forces and address the importance of school bus safety. Harnett County Schools has about 250 buses on the roads across our county every day.
On October 9th, Western Harnett Middle kicked off its Accelerated Reader program with a visit from Gaylord the Camel and the Campbell University cheerleaders. By offering incentives and encouraging students to “drop everything and read,” teachers expect to see an increase in reading comprehension, which will reflect in an improvement in all areas of learning.
